We are now changing locations for our salsa classes @ Empire State Dance Center (located between Sears and Dick's Sporting Goods) to Puttin on the Ritz Dance Studio also within Shoppingtown classes are canceled and will resume in May at the new location, time pending.
On1/On2 Salsa Classes
1. Basic body movement & figures - Learn to move fluidly, and the basic figures to partner dancing as well as several shine steps to give varierty to the express oneself
2. Lead & Follow Technique - This alone can make one become someone that everyone wants to dance with. As a leader, learn to give clarity to the lead in a gentle manner leading with signals rather than force. As a follower, learn to understand what the lead is trying to communicate and make transitions smoothly
3. Musicality - First learn to find and hold a steady rhythm. Then be able to differentiate between interpreting the music on1 and on2, or any other way to feel the music. Further understand music and learn to anticipate hits and breaks in the music and then display that with dancing
4. Spinning Technique - Become more comfortable with spinning, gain balance, and gain a resistance to becoming dizzy
5. Body Isolations - Learn to move your body and gain the confidence and control to move it and incorporate it within the basic figures while dancing and executing shines. Movements included would be Body Waves, Hip Rolls, Ribcage Rolls, Shoulder Rolls & more

Unlike most classes, CNY Salseros has multiple teachers in the class to break the class up into several groups. At the extreme it would be one group of people that are lost with the material and need things to slow down, another group that are bored and need a challenge, and then another group in between. So the level is really all levels not just beginner or intermediate, which is because everyone learns things at a different rate and the class then is a better fit to each individual student. Our classes run continuously, so feel free to join at anytime!

Purchase a package of four group classes, for one peron, to be used immediately over the next four classes. All for just $40, anyone can start and join in at any time. If one wishes to break it up or sample a single class, classes can be purchased $15 at a time the night of the class. Private Lesson PackagesPrivate Lessons are available as well, but rather than coming to the teacher, the teacher comes to you for an hour and a half private lesson. These lessons are good for 1 year upon purchase to be used at the pace of the student's choosing. Intended for at most 2 couples at a time, for lessons involving greater than 4 people, please contact us to make accommodations.
